Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2024 Collections to Look Out for This Upcoming Year

In the midst of Fashion Week and fashion season, it can be overwhelming with how many new collections are being showcased. A new era of fashion is on the way, referencing past generations of styles, experimenting with unconventional materials, and introducing a new avenue for fashion. Here are three outstanding collections that hit the runway this past New York Fashion Week.

DION LEE

Known for his high-end ravewear, Dion Lee plays with a new identity for his SS24 collection.

The "industrial experimentation" is what Lee describes in his new collection. On the runway, models walk down in utility wear, utilizing materials and textures of wire, metal, denim, and leather to hit the nail on the theme. Crowd favorites were the white corset bodysuit paired with a wrench belt, the oversized blazers, and an orange wire that literally plugs into the back of the model's pants.

SAMI MIRO VINTAGE

Ethically made in Los Angeles, Sami Miro Vintage redesigns a new and better avenue of fashion. Self-taught Sami Miro uses natural resources to design her clothes, moving toward a conscious fashion industry.

The idea to upcycle stemmed from Miro's childhood of being bullied for wearing vintage clothing or thrift shopping. Back then, it was looked down on and associated with being poor. She changes this narrative by acknowledging the uniqueness of each vintage item.

Miro is one of many who are paving the way for a sustainable future for fashion.

GUCCI

Sabato De Sarno brings back Gucci's elegance and refined style in his debut as the brand's new Creative Director.

As maximalist Alessandro Michele departs from the brand, De Sarno brings back a contemporary angle to modern luxury. De Sarno is an industry veteran. He has worked for Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, and Prada.

De Sarno titled this new collection "Ancora." Ancora in Italian means again, " I want people to fall in love with Gucci ancora," said De Sarno. The collection has a fresh look, chic and sophisticated, foreshadowing a reboot for the brand and De Sarno.

  1. I have not looked at the best runway looks from fashion week for SS24 yet but I didn’t even know about these collections to begin with. To be honest, I’m a huge Loewe fan so I was waiting to see those but I’m glad that I know about these now!
