The Best Seasonal Goods This Fall

When the mornings start to become chillier and the days become shorter, that’s when we know fall is definitely here. With the fall season come cozy evenings in with movie nights, scaldingly hot coffee mornings, loose knit tops, and yes, all the shades of orange, brown, and red please! As this is the pre-Thanksgiving season, we also start to see a lot of our favorite turkey-themed holiday flavors such as pumpkin spice lattes and cranberry cookies in stores. This is a time when many of our beloved bakeries and pastry shops get creative with their seasonal menus. To help you navigate this crazy cake-filled season, here are some of the holiday items currently available at some of LA’s favorite dessert shops!

1. Sprinkles

Sprinkles is a widely popular cupcake shop in Southern California. With various locations across the state, it’s no wonder it's become a staple. To kick-off the Thanksgiving spirit, Sprinkles is now offering its Limited Time Offerings menu where you can find two new holiday-inspired cupcakes. Its first offering this season is a pumpkin cupcake which is made of a pumpkin cake with hints of ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg accompanied by a cinnamon cream cheese frosting. Its second offering is a pumpkin spice latte cupcake which consists of a marshmallow-filled pumpkin cake and a Cuban coffee frosting.

2. SusieCakes

It’s safe to say that SusieCakes was fully prepared for this holiday season. With a ‘Halloween’ titled section on its website dedicated to seasonal cakes and at-home kits, this cake shop has something for everyone. On its seasonal menu, you can now find a huge selection of items ranging from Halloween frosted sugar cookies to a black SusieKitty decorated cake. What’s more, SusieCakes is all for sprinkling some pop-culture into the mix with its Halloween Barbie cake.

3. Sidecar

Sidecar holds a special place in many’s breakfast routines, especially with its Basil Eggs Benedict doughnut that runs out within 30 minutes of opening. This doughnut shop is known for its adventurously flavored desserts ranging from a maple and bacon doughnut to a butter and salt doughnut. To spread the holiday love, Sidecar has added two new seasonal flavors: a passion fruit pavlova doughnut and a vegan huckleberry peanut butter drizzle doughnut.

4. Milk Jar Cookies

This cookie shop is certainly a hidden gem! As Milk Jar Cookies recently expanded to a second location, its popularity has certainly grown. Now that Thanksgiving approaches, Milk Jar Cookies is gearing up for a busy holiday season. In preparation of this, the cookie shop on Wilshire has introduced a new cookie this fall. Its new waffle cookie is made from maple dough and stuffed to the brim with chunks of toasted waffles.

5. The Pie Hole

Lastly, you can't forget the pumpkin pie! Sadly, The Pie Hole has not yet announced a seasonal menu but it’s still deserving of a notable mention in this list. No one does pies like this pie shop and luckily The Pie Hole offers a classic selection of pies year-round. Its menu includes a s’mores pie and pumpkin pie to satisfy all your Thanksgiving festivity needs this holiday season.

  1. I have only tried 2 out of the 5 spots that you mentioned. I am not much of a pumpkin pie type but I am willing to try. All these spots look good!

  2. Sprinkles Cupcakes is the best! I cannot wait to try their pumpkin cupcake. I also have always wanted to try the Pie Hole in the Orange Circle and I guess this is my sign.

  6. All these places look like they have delicious food! I enjoy donuts and cookies, so I’ll for sure be visiting Sidecar and Milk Jar Cookies sometime. I know my cousin is a big fan of pies, so I’ll be recommending The Pie Whole to them.
