One of my favorite things to do in October is visit a pumpkin patch. This year, I attended the 31st Annual Pumpkin Fest at Cal Poly Pomona with my boyfriend. Their website suggests buying tickets beforehand to ensure the best price, and tickets at the entrance are limited. We purchased the Adult Bundle for $26.75 each, as it includes the activity wristband. The wristband gave us unlimited access to corn mazes, a petting farm, a sunflower maze, a cow train, a hay wagon ride, and Pumpkin Land.
Since the event ends at 7 p.m., we decided to get there around four in the afternoon. It was the perfect time, giving us enough time to do many activities. The pumpkin festivities began after we scanned our tickets and received our wristbands.
The first section featured booths for small businesses. They sold potted plants, handmade crafts, and customized mugs. The next section of the festival had food vendors who offered a variety of delicious foods. The options ranged from barbeque to tacos, pizza, wings, funnel cakes, kettle corn, and snow cones. I enjoyed a plate of loaded carne asada fries and cold lemonade.
Of all the activities, the petting farm was my favorite. We got to pet calves, sheep, and goats. The animals were friendly and looked happy to be fed by so many people. After the petting farm, we completed one of the corn mazes and received a pin at the exit.
If you’re looking for a pumpkin patch to attend this fall, I highly recommend the Pumpkin Fest at Cal Poly Pomona. There are many things to do and cute seasonal photo opportunities. It was a fun date night idea that would be equally as fun with family or a group of friends. The Pumpkin Fest is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays until October 27.
